From brief to a working platform
End-to-end workflows: review, draft, advise
Of in-house legal practice encoded into the product
Stas.ai is an AI platform that does the work of an in-house lawyer – for mid-sized and scale-up businesses with real legal needs but no in-house counsel, and for legal teams that need extra capacity.
«Delivered more than promised»
They delivered on the contract date, four weeks after kickoff.

A lawyer with 25 years in-house needed a working AI product to raise on, and a blank chat box would have hidden the very expertise that set it apart from general AI assistants.
Solution
We built an AI agentic platform that automates the majority of an in-house lawyer workflows.
Review a contract. Upload a file and get back a set of structured amendments. Every amendment can be accepted, edited inline, or rejected. A marked-up .docx with tracked changes is ready to send to the counterparty.
Draft an agreement. Answer a short set of questions – and the platform drafts the agreement against the organisation’s stored standard positions and jurisdiction.
Ask for advice. A Q&A flow that answers in the house style: short, practical, commercially framed, and specific about the Australian position.
Underneath all three, a human lawyer is one click away – before a task, during it, or after.
To make this possible, Blackthorn AI used:
Project duration
1st Week
Two working sessions to lock scope, contract types, and demo success criteria. User flows, scenarios, and a written definition of done agreed; first working skeleton stood up.
2nd Week
Onboarding questionnaire live and wired into retrieval, so every downstream output is shaped by the organisation’s own profile, jurisdiction, and risk appetite.
3rd Week
Contract review and contract drafting working end-to-end on real documents, both retrieval-backed. Legal advice Q&A implemented.
4th Week
“Talk to a lawyer” referral flow implemented, UI polish, and full smoke test across all three workflows.

Delivering Impact
A human lawyer is reachable at every step — before a task, during it, or after — the handoff carries the full context automatically: the request, the files, and the business profile. For a business signing a seven-figure deal, that’s the difference between a tool it can use and one it can’t.
4 weeks
from brief to a working platformDiscovery, three end-to-end workflows, the human-lawyer handoff, and a demo-ready interface, delivered by a five-person team between kickoff and handover.
3 flows
review, draft, adviseEach runs end-to-end on real uploaded documents rather than a mocked screen: a 33-page consultancy agreement goes in, a structured amendment table and a tracked-change redline come out.
25 years
of in-house practice, encodedThe platform answers in a specific voice — short, practical, commercially decisive, and explicit about the Australian position — because the product was designed around how one experienced in-house lawyer actually works, not around a generic assistant.
