UI/UX Designer – Biotech AI Platform
About the role
We’re building a biotech AI SaaS platform used by scientific teams to run workflows, interpret results, and make decisions with confidence. You’ll own end-to-end product design for complex web application experiences – turning ambiguous scientific problems into intuitive, scalable interfaces.
This is a hands-on role for someone who’s designed real SaaS products (not just landing pages or mobile apps) and enjoys collaborating closely with product and engineering.
Requirements
1) 2+ years designing UI/UX of SaaS applications with examples of shipped work. This must be primarily web app product design, not landing pages, not mobile apps.
2) Strong proficiency in Figma (components, auto-layout, variants, libraries).
3) A portfolio demonstrating end-to-end SaaS work: problem framing, flows, interaction design, UI, shipped outcomes
4) UX fundamentals: information architecture, interaction design, accessibility, and usability testing.
5) Ability to communicate design decisions clearly and collaborate effectively with engineers.
6) Background in biotech or basic understanding of biology: protein, chain, amino acid, small molecules, peptides, interactions, enzymes, etc. or willingness to learn quickly.
7) Experience designing for data-heavy products (workflows, tables, filters, search, visualizations (molecular), review/approval flows, datasets, reports).
8) Familiarity with AI product UX (models, confidence, explainability, human-in-the-loop, error states, guardrails).
What you’ll do
1) Design core SaaS web application experiences: dashboards, workflows, configuration screens, data exploration, admin, settings, roles/permissions, etc.
2) Translate product requirements and user needs into wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and polished UI.
3) Build and maintain a design system (components, patterns, tokens) and partner with engineering to ensure quality implementation.
4) Run and synthesize lightweight user research (stakeholder interviews, usability tests, heuristic reviews) to validate decisions.
5) Collaborate daily with Product, Engineering, and domain experts to balance usability, feasibility, and scientific accuracy.
