Business Goals

  • Identify the causes of drug side effects.
  • Find out why some patients don't respond to the medicine.
  • Prevent cases of drug toxicity.

Challenge

  • Years of treatment history according to the unified protocol revealed that some patients experienced toxic effects from an excessive amount of the drug. In contrast, others developed no therapeutic effect regardless of dosage.

Results

  • In 30 days of the developed system testing, the number of reported side effects dropped by 45% due to timely withdrawals, dose corrections, and additional measures.

Implementation Details

  • Historical records of medicine usage were analyzed using a set of statistical methods.
  • Biochemical factors of drug insensitivity and toxicity have been determined, described, and quantified.
  • By exposing biochemical drug response patterns, patients were stratified into high, moderate, and no drug susceptibility groups.
  • Systems for early detection of drug insensitivity and overdosing have been developed. The drug administration was immediately canceled if the insensitivity had been detected.
